Johana Barajas

Office Manager

Personal Experience

Johana is originally from Venezuela but has lived in Georgia since 2000. When she moved to the United States, she focused in Customer Service and quickly rose to management. She joined the firm in 2012 as an account manager, but her natural business sense propelled her to take over general management of the firm. Over the years, Johana’s ongoing interest and experience has equipped her to oversee the firm’s marketing, technology, human resources and financial management. She ensures the daily operations run smoothly and maintains accounts payable, receivable and monthly billings as well.

Johana understands client expectations, concerns and emotions throughout the legal process as she has experienced them herself. Her personal experience with attorneys in the past allows her to be particularly compassionate with our clients.

Outside the office, Johana adores being with her husband and daughter, whether entertaining friends and family at home, traveling or just enjoying the outdoors with their dog, Annie.

Heather Pendley

Paralegal

Personal Experience

Heather was born and raised in the metro Atlanta area. Heather earned her certificate in Legal Administrative Assisting/Paralegal Studies from Gwinnett College of Business in 2000. Prior to joining The Millard Law Firm, Heather was employed as a Legal Secretary in the Legal Department of a large boutique law firm in Buckhead. Heather has over 15 years of experience in the legal field, in the areas of bankruptcy, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, appellate and family law in superior and state courts, as well as various Federal district courts.

In her current position as paralegal with The Millard Law, Heather helps to ensure the clients are updated regularly on the status of the case, assists in obtaining documents and information from the clients and providing it to opposing counsel and assists the attorneys in the day-to-day management of a case load. Heather is skilled at handling divorces, both contested and uncontested, adoptions, modifications and legitimation.

When not at the office, as a single mother, Heather manages school meetings, appointments and all other activities for her son Chazz. The demands of her personal life help her to understand the stress our clients endure on a daily basis and how to help them manage that stress in their lives. She enjoys spending time with her son, Chazz and dog, Gracie, as well as reading, attending plays and concerts, and making half-hearted attempts to decorate.

Marcy A. Millard

Owner & Lead Attorney

Personal Experience

As the lead attorney and owner of The Millard Law Firm, Marcy manages the firm and helps clients navigate the confusing and painful process of litigating a family law case. A child of divorce herself, Marcy is passionate about helping the children affected by the cases she litigates.

After completing her degree, Marcy began her career with a small law firm in Lawrenceville, GA, where she learned the complexities of family law. She expanded her experience by joining a medium-sized real estate litigation firm in Buckhead in 2006, before opening her own practice in 2007.

Originally from upstate New York, Marcy obtained a degree in Mathematics and Education from the State University of New York at Potsdam. She then earned her law degree from the Georgia State College of Law in 2004.

During her early teen years, Marcy felt the trauma of divorce first-hand when her parents’ marriage ended. Although amicable, the divorce left Marcy struggling for attention from her parents and adjusting to a new definition of “family.” Today, Marcy has two children of her own, one of whom is special needs. She understands the demands of being a parent, and how these demands can affect the family dynamics, even in the absence of a divorce situation.

Marcy’s own experiences provide focus and insight in how she can help her clients work through the emotional trauma of a family law case. In addition, they have enabled her to assist her clients in better understanding how they can help their own children navigate through major change.
